The earrings are a direct cast of a small soft-shell clam. If you get close to the jewelry, you can see the finely layered markings of the shell. What I fell in love with, and what is special about this little clam is its delicate markings that illustrate years of leaching beneath the sea. Like the shells, the earrings are naturally concave on the inside. Soft-shell clams are a common sight along the Danish shores but were brought here from North America with the Vikings.
